identity, difference & belonging
Finding your way in life and the world and how you belong and are different from others is a rich and often painful area of experience. If you want to examine and better understand how your experiences are both unique and universal, I hope you’ll feel you’ve come to a respectful space.
I acknowledge issues of culture, ethnicity, legal status and the history connected to communities of color--one of the zones in which people often experience trauma and conflict. I will be respectful of your cultural experience and realize that these can be difficult themes. Issues of identity and social power are complex and I will honor your communication about what that is like for you. I’m also very interested in working with people who identify as white and exploring together what that means.
LGBTQ folks and those examining or questioning their sexual orientation or gender identification and expression are very welcome in my practice. And if you are someone who is making choices about parenting, family, relationship configuration or sexual practices that may be different from those in the wider community, I will provide an accepting atmosphere where you can explore those concerns freely.
